Saint Luke Swim Team

As a swimmer myself, I think our team had a pretty strong showing this year. We won the Diocesan championship last year, by just six points! It was a close meet, and I definitely thought we could do it again.  Although we lost a lot of good swimmers to  graduation, we still have a strong team.  The only problem about the Diocesan meet this year is that four schools combined into one team. Yeah. Saint Boniface, OLC, OLMC, and Saint George have combined together to create “one super team”.

After last year, most of us swimmers didn’t think we could pull it off again. It was a rough, long, and fast meet. Eighth grader, Zach Miller, said “It’s gonna be a close fight.” And that it was. The meet lasted almost all day, but in the end, we took home the second place trophy. We had some crazy times at that meet, and memories we will never forget. I know I won’t.

The Varsity Girls Soccer Team

By Cassie Zimmer, Madison Konkol, and Kaylee Williams

This year the Varsity Girls Soccer Team started practicing in the beginning of March. The team has 22 players, 7 eighth graders, and 15 seventh graders. The season was kicked off with an indoor tournament at Mercyhurst Prep on March 28th.  The girls were split up into two even teams. Both teams did very well in the tournament, SLS yellow got 4th place, and SLS green did not place.

The outdoor part of the season begins on April 15th. SLS plays many teams, including St. George, St. James, Our Lady’s Christian, Our Lady of Peace, Blessed Sacrament, St. Peter’s Cathedral Center, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

The Coaches and the players are really excited for the upcoming soccer season.  Let’s wish our girls good luck for the season ahead of them!
