Why I Do What I Do
Recently, our faculty was asked the question, "Why do you do what you do?" The responses are amazing. Below is a list of what they had to say in response to that question.
- I do what I do because teaching is me! I "played school" every day for years, and always knew that being a teacher was and is what I want to do. When you see the success in a child and know you played a part in it...that is why I do what I do.
- It's because I want to give back to God the gifts He has given me. To know that someone will take it to others and the chain will go on.
- I do what I do because I love what I do, the staff and the students. God has placed me in this time and place for a reason. Hopefully I am doing His will.
- I teach because I enjoy seeing a child discover new things. They beam when they are successful. I welcome the opportunity to bring God and Christ-centered values into my classroom. That is definitely a plus for teaching in a Catholic school.
- God has given me a love for children and a great desire to help them.
- I really love teaching! I enjoy the children and feel good when I help them learn! I love being here at Saint Luke School vs. public schools because of the children and their families. I am happy when I am here!
- Because I like what I do. I love seeing the children learn. Because I believe this is what God wants me to do.
- Because! I love my job! It is the right thing to do. There are no shortcuts. I need to address all of the children and their special needs. I can't see my life any other place!
- I teach because I love children. I get excited when they pass a test or something clicks and they grasp a concept. I love seeing their smiling faces every day and knowing I am making a difference in their lives.
- I love kids! I love working here! It is that simple!
- I do what I do on a daily basis so my students may be as successful as possible.
- You do what you are called to do. Being with young kids reenergizes me in a wonderful way!
- I do what I do because I love teaching, and I love watching kids have that "light-bulb" moment when it all finally starts making sense to them. I do what I do because I have always dreamed of this job, being able to teach children, to share my faith, to work with people who also want to make a difference. I do what I do in this school because I think we are on the brink of something, on the cutting edge of something, and I want to be there when it happens. I do what I do because at the end of the day, middle school kids make me smile, keep me young, and deserve to be treated with respect and honor. I do what I do to inspire my kids to make a difference of their own someday.
- Teaching is my passion and I love what I do! It's energizing to observe my students emotionally engaged in the learning process. My goal is to listen to them with my ears, eyes, and heart.
- I do what I do because it is my ministry - to minister to the spiritual, educational, and emotional needs of the children and their families.
- Because if I can change just one child's opinion, I have accomplished something. When I see students enjoying my class, I feel happy. I know I am doing my job and teaching children, and I love when they pull all of the pieces together and make something out of it. I love that feeling when a student understands what is happening. To see their knowledge grow and to see them use more and more of what they know as they are doing things for class justifies everything that I teach them.
- I have the wonderful opportunity to bring children to God.
- I do what I do because I love being around the kids. The main reason I like being a teacher is because I get to know every student. The kids make the job fun!
- There are some days when I ask myself that same question- and on some days, more than once. I love my job. I love the interaction with the students and the constant challenge of this work. There are no two days that are the same. Nothing can replace the "I've got it!" look.
- I love teaching! I can't imagine doing anything else. I learn so much from my students- about life in general and about myself and my abilities. I feel blessed that I have a job where I love who I work with and who I am while I am here.
- I do what I do because I love the children and I want to make a difference in the life of a child so that they can succeed in everything they do!
