04.21.2009: WICU Metorologist Visits 6th Grade
Meterologist Julie Coates from WICU paid a visit to the boys and girls in the 6th grade class today. She discussed the schooling that she has undergone, her experiences being on television, the perks of being a "weather geek" and much more. The students were impressed by the computer programming and the "green screen" most importantly. Mrs. Coates showed the students how it is possible to make a person disappear in front of the screen. She explained that they have a lot of fun at the news station, but when it comes down to it, a lot of hard work and dedication go into their jobs! We were honored to welcome Mrs. Coates to Saint Luke and we can't thank her enough for speaking to our students about the weather.

01.29.2009: "Tuition Angels" Program
Saint Luke School is creating a program called “Tuition Angels.” It is very similar to a tuition assistance program, and we are asking for your help by sponsoring a child’s education. Recently, we took a survey of our religious education families to see why they decided to attend another school besides Saint Luke. Out of the surveys that were returned, all but 2 of them listed financial reasons for not attending Saint Luke School. That brings up a very important point- more families would be able to choose Saint Luke if it were more affordable. Like a snow angel, you can be that little sign that God is watching over a family by helping pay for an education. The actual “per pupil cost” to educate a child in this building, including heat, gas, electric, salaries, etc. is $3,392.00, however with the aid of parish assistance as well as other factors, we are able to set our tuition rate below that amount. As you can see, it is quite expensive to educate each child, and this is why we need your assistance. In these tough economic times, a lot of families throughout the country have lost their jobs and are struggling financially. We want to help our families with the cost of tuition. We are asking that you help us by signing up to help pay part or all of a child’s tuition. Every donation helps, from $5 to the full cost of a tuition.
