Library: Mrs. Mielnik

Keep reading this summer!

All students, grades K – 8, have library class for 30 minutes per week. During their library class, students read silently for a few minutes at the beginning of the period,  borrow and return books, and I read to each class at the end of the period.  Students grades 2 – 8 have the opportunity to take Reading Counts™ quizzes while in library, also.

Students are encouraged to participate in Reading Counts™ each month.  Reading Counts™ goals are set by the students under the guidance of their teacher and are customized to each student’s reading level.  Each month, students set a new goal and have a new opportunity to succeed.  Most students who participate in RC™ increase their reading comprehension, show academic improvement, and have higher reading scores on standardized tests.  Plus it’s fun!  Encourage your children to read by reading with them and let them see you enjoying a good book yourself!
