2A: Mrs. Carmosino

Everything You Wanted to Know About 2A and Were Afraid to Ask:

Welcome to 2nd grade, we’re off to a great start! I’m really enjoying getting to know all of my new students.  I am looking forward to having a lot of fun this year while we learn so many new things!

This website will just be one more way for me to communicate to you about what is happening in school.  My goal is to update at the beginning of each week so you get a basic overview of the material we will be covering and any special events or news that we would like to share.

Week of September 6-10

THE FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE SKILLS WE WILL BE ADDRESSING THIS WEEK:

RELIGION:  Chapter 1, quiz on Thursday

READING:  Exploring Space is the story, skills are main idea, long vowels,  and

position words.  Selection test on Friday (quiz on story)

ENGLISH:  Identify nouns as a subject in a sentence.

HANDWRITING:  Review and practice capital and lower case letters: A,D,O,G,C E,S

SOCIAL STUDIES:  Talk about Constitution Day and discuss national landmarks.

If  your child kept a reading log during the summer, they can bring it in any time.  We will usually go to the computer lab on Fridays  and it will help them remember what quizzes they may want to take on Reading Counts.

Hopefully, we will have a break in the weather this week and we will cool off.  Children are welcome to bring a water bottle to school, they should have a little cloth to keep under it so their papers do not get wet.  The 6th grade suggested putting a sock on it!  Sounds like a good idea to me.

Please let me know if there is any other information you would like me to include on the website.  You can e-mail me at ccarmosino@slserie.org.
